MRS. CHARLES HENRY PHILLIPS

Phillips Vows Exchanged At St. Thomas Episcopal

On an up-state wedding trip with destination Clearwater, where they will reside, are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Henry Phillips, following their wedding Saturday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, South Miami. The bride, the former Joan Colleen McNamara, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. McNamara, of 950 Sevilla Ave. The groom, formerly of Orlando, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Goodwin Nilsson of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The Rev. Arthur J. Rantz, rector of St. Thomas, officiated at the 7:30 p.m. candlelight service. The couple exchanged rings. Bride's Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a handsome bridal gown of Skinner Bouquet taffeta combined with imported Chantilly lace. Designed on princess lines, the fitted bodice of the lace had a scalloped neckline, elbow length sleeves etched in seed pearls and bouffant floor length skirt. Detail of the back of the aisle wide train was a full length panel of the Chantilly lace. Tiers of imported silk illusion fell from a crown of drop crystal beads. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, carnations and stephanotis. Miss Linda Nilsson of Howey-in-the-Hills, sister of the groom, was maid of honor and the bride's only attendant. She wore a turquoise silk organza gown designed with molded bodice, elbow length sleeves and bouffant skirt trimmed in roses of the material. A matching hat with tiny circular veil and a matching bouquet of carnations and baby roses completed her ensemble. Best Man Henry Wise of Orlando was best man. Ushers were Don Albritton of Winter Park and Henry Peters of Miami. The reception was held at the Musicians Club of America, 303 Minorca Ave. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. McNamara wore a lavendar chiffon gown with matching purple accessories and a lavendar Cattleya orchid corsage. Groom's Mother The mother of the groom wore a brown chiffon gown with softly draped skirt, turquoise and gold accessories and a brown orchid corsage. Out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cope and Mrs. C. V. Griffin of Howey-in-the-Hills, and Mr. and Mrs. John McLaren of Winter Park. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High Schol and the University of Florida, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega social sorority.

Epsilon Sigma Alpha Hears Travel Talk

Alpha Mu chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority held its regular business meeting Thursday, Feb. 2, in the Coral Gables Coliseum, 1500 Douglas Road. Guest speaker was Miss Dorothy Evans, stewardess with Delta Airlines. Miss Evans spoke on "Air Travels and How to Pack Your Suitcase." Miss Salome McNab, 1000 NW 29th Ave., has been nominated from Alpha Mu to run for state parliamentarian; Mrs. E. B. Roberts, 3126 NW 23rd Ave., is her campaign chairman. The chapter is selling tickets to the Ring Theater to enable them to have convention money. Mrs. Sam Pearce, 7971 SW 16th St., is handling the tickets.

Ray Of Hope Dance

The "Ray of Hope Chapter" of the Children's Asthmatic Home of Denver is having a Sweetheart Dance on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. at Coral Gables Masonic Lodge, 41 Valencia Ave. There will be dancing, spaghetti dinner and entertainment.
