gables news Realtor honored by city
Anna Mae Esslinger, Coral Gables Realtor and head of the city's Crimewatch program, was presented a Certificate of Appreciation by the Coral Gables City Commission Tuesday for her work with the People to People program. Trudy Lunsford was also presented a Certificate of Appreciation for her work in the People to People program, which helps to promote a relationship between the City Beautiful and its sister cities, Cartagena and Medellin, Colombia.
Friendship
The city commission also proclaimed the week of Sept. 3 through Sept. 9 as "Coral Gables-Medellin Friendship Week" at the commission meeting Tuesday. The Coral Gables Jaycees will be traveling to the Colombian city during that week.
Classes
Merrick Community School, located at 39 Zamora Ave., Coral Gables, is now taking registrations for its fall term. Classes are available for children in ballet, leathercrafts, judo, chess, typing and gymnastics. A variety of classes are being sponsored for adults in the evening, such as: oil painting, tennis, Spanish guitar, macrame, knitting, yoga, slimnastics and English. Merrick has more than 70 different classes and activities available for public participation. For further information, call 448-1639 between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
