Two ways to join the brunch bunch
Sunday brunches are for special occasions, like graduation, anniversaries, First Communion, Bar Mitzvahs, engagements or because you feel like a relaxed, mid-morning meal after church or before sailing. Both Grandma's Receipts, at 12502 N. Kendall Dr., in the Shops of Kendall, and the Seven Hundred Club in the David William Hotel, 700 Biltmore Way in Coral Gables, offer brunches. Grandma's Receipts opted for the buffet brunch with a tempting array of Quiche Lorraine, bacon, sausage, ham, homemade biscuits, potatoes, beef tips and rice, and chicken and dumplings. Brunch prices, including orange juice and coffee, are $2.50 for children under 12 and $4.50 for adults. Serving hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p..m, with cocktails served after 1 p.m. No reservations are necessary at Grandma's Receipts, which also offers regular menu breakfasts during those hours. The Seven Hundred Club has a special Sunday menu with sit-down service instead of a buffet. Their entrees, priced from $3.25 to $4.75, include crepes, Quiche Lorraine, seafood in patty shells, Eggs Benedict and Cold Duck with fresh fruit. Piano music sets the mood, and cocktails are served from 10:30 a.m. Brunch begins at 11 a.m. and is served until 3 p.m.
