Candidates for House of Representatives ..... hoping to represent South Dade, Coral Gables

of the Florida Young Democrats, vice president of Tranistion, Inc. a rehabilitation program for ex-offenders and member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Miami Jaycees. He graduated from Palmetto High School and the University of Miami. Sadowski Bill Sadowski, 32, a local attorney, is seeking election as a Democratic Candidate for State Representative, District 115. Sadowski has served as legislative aide to two Florida legislators, Representative Jack Matthews. He has actively worked toward 1978 constitutional revision and is a member of the Florida Bars' Constitutuional Revision Committee. He is a director of the Dade County Bar and a former director of the Young Lawyers Section of that organization. A graduate of Universi- Diaz-Silveira Frank Diaz Silveira, 40, a Coral Gables attorney, is a Republican candidate for State House of Representatives District 113. Born in Havana, Cuba, he was active in the underground movement against Castro. In 1963 he joined the U.S. Army. He worked as a Social Worker for the State of Florida's Division of Family Services until he completed the Cuban Lawyers Program at the University of Miami and subsequently passed the Florida Bar Examination. Weber Patricia Weber, 48, a 20-year veteran of Republican campaigns, is a Republican contender for State House District 113. Mrs. Weber, an eight-year resident of Dade County, is an active member in Vizcaya, Women's Philharmonic Guild and Second Church of Christ Scientist in Coconut Grove. Seven years ago she helped found the Key Biscayne Republican's Women's Club. She was a delegate to this year's Republican National Convention. Past executive secretary for the Rupublican County Committee, she is current County Committee woman for that organization. House 114 McDermott John G. McDermott, 44, formerly with the City of Miami Zoning Division, is a Democratic contender for the Florida House of Representatives District 114. Prior to joining the Miami Zoning Division, McDermott was a coordinator, studying efficiency of operation at Jackson Memorial Hospital, worked as a law enforcement officer for the State of Florida Beverage Department, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Hector Seeking a fourth term is State Representative Robert C. Hector, 58, a Democratic candidate to District 114 of the Florida House of Representatives. A graduate of Princeton University, Hector served on numerous legislative committees including Public Health and Welfare and Environmental Pollution Control Committee, both of which he was vice-chairman. He served as chairman of the Subcommittee on Administrative Polices and the Subcommittee on Corporate Profits Tax. A dairy feed manufacturer and U.S. Army veteran, Hector is active in the Chief Executives Forum and the Executives' Association of Greater Miami. An honorary member of Crippled House 115 Eckhart State Representative James F. Eckhart, a Miami attorney, is a Democratic candidate for re-election in District 115. A former general counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Government Operations Committee, Eckhart has also held positions as Special Assistant Attorney General of Florida and general counsel to the Dade County Port Authority. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was assistant Staff Judge Advocate, U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A graduate of the University of Miami Law School, Eckhart is married with five children. His civic activities include working with United Fund and membership in the Coral Gables Lions Club. Friesner Herb Friesner, 48, a Democratic contender for State Representative in District 115, is a Southwest Miami lawyer specializing in insurance law. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Miami. A U.S. Army veteran, he formerly managed and operated Adventurers Inn in Yonkers, New York. Friesner is a member of the Optimist Club of Kendall and belongs to the Dade County and Florida Bar Associations. A current member of the Florida Trial Lawyers Association, he formerly served on the No Fault Committee of that organization. He and his wife, Lynn two daughters. Goldstein Harvey Goldstein, 39, a Yale Law School graduate and practicing attorney, is a Democratic contender for State House of Representatives, District 115. Following his graduation from Yale, Goldstein served in the U.S. Army as Intelligence Staff Officer and in the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence in the Pentagon. In 1966 he began private law practice in Miami, Florida. Goldstein received his undergraduate degree from St. John's College in Maryland. He resides in South Dade. O'Donovan Florida House of Representative candidate Michael O'Donovan, 25, is a Democratic contender for District 115. A veteran campaigner, O'Donovan has worked for Senator Eugene McCarthy, former Peace Corps Director Sargent Shriver and California Governor Jerry Brown. O'Donovan was elected chairman of the South Dade Concerned Democrats in 1976, elected to the state board of Concerned Democrats and re-elected to the Democratic Executive Committee. In addition, he has worked on voter registration for the N.A.A.C.P. The South Dade resident attended St. John Vianney Seminary and Miami-Dade Community College. House 118 Bates Donald Paul Bates, 29, is a Democratic contender for State House of Representatives in District 118. Bates, who was a Republican until this year, serves as assistant principal of Mueller Christian Academy, 3300 NW 17th Ave. Beare Nikki Beare, 48, public relations executive and author, is a Democrat campaigning for the Florida House of Representatives, District 118. Mrs. Beare, who has been active in many Dade Community organizations, planning boards and recently the County Vice Chair for the Jimmy Carter campaign, is a member of the Florida Insurance Commissions Task Force. She is also Chairperson of the Dade Fair Housing and Employment Appeals Board. In addition, she is a member of Community Health of South Dade, Metro's Transit Advisory Committee and has served on Metro's General Land Use Master Planning Committee.
