Ex-prep gridders make college team
A pair of former All-City gridders — quarterback Luis Mejuto (Coral Gables '75, left) and linebacker Bob Caruso (Coral Park '75, right) — are key sophomore members of the Capital University (Columbus, Ohio) football team this fall. The 5-11, 170 pound Mejuto moved into the Crusader lineup for the final three games last year and performed well, clicking on 27 of 74 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns. He also netted 56 yards rushing. Caruso won a starting berth at linebacker in the third game of the season, but fell victim to a knee injury that shelved him for the rest of the year. The stocky, 5-9, 195 pounder will be moved to middle guard this fall.
