Candidates for Circuit Court judgeships

Group One

Wetherington Attorney and former University of Miami law professor, Gerald T. Wetherington, 39, has filed for election to retain his seat as Circuit Court Judge. Appointment to his position by Governor Askew in 1974, the Coral Gables resident has also served as Acting City Attorney for the City of North Miami and Assistant County Attorney, Dade County. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Miami and Duke University Wetherington and his wife, Zeona have a 12-year-old daughter Chris. * * * Neustein Charles L. "Chuck" Neustein, 31, a Municipal Judge in North Miami Beach, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge. Neustein is a Past President of the Knights of Pythias, a member of B'nai B'rith, Sabal Palm Elementary School PTA and the Enterprise Club. He is on the Board of Directors of Gold Synagogue and a member of Temple Agudath Israel. A graduate of the University of Miami and Washington and Lee School of Law, Neustein is a member of the Florida Bar and Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Young Men of America 1976 Award. Neustein and his wife, Barbara, have two children, Ricky and Alison.

Group Six

Stettin Judge Herbert Stettin, 41, chosen by the merit selection system and appointed to the bench by the Governor, has filed for election to retain his seat as Circuit Court Judge. A graduate of Queens College, Stettin received his master's degree from Harvard and graduated from the University of Miami Law School. After graduation, Stettin served as a research assistant in the Second District Court of Appeals of Florida. Since 1964, he practiced law in Miami until his appointment to the bench by Governor Askew. Stettin lives with his wife, Marcia, and their two children in North Miami Beach. * * * Martin William C. Martin, 65, a practicing attorney in Dade County for 30 years, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge. The co-founder and former president of Big Brothers Association of Dade County is an active member of the Boy Scouts, a former member of the Citizens Highway Safety Advisory Council of Florida and a former trustee for Coral Gables Congregational Church. Martin received both his undergraduate and law degrees from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He also attended University of Florida and University of Miami. A Coral Gables resident for over 20 years, he and his wife Adita have two children.

Group Seven

Henry Jess Henry, 45, a local trial attorney, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge. A resident of Dade County for 17 years, Henry received his B.A. from City College of New York and his law degree from Duke University School of Law. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Henry is active in the Armed Forces League and belongs to the Florida Bar Association, the American Bar Association, both the American and Florida Academies of Trial Lawyers, the American Arbitration Association and the American Judicature Association. Henry resides in Coral Gables with his wife, Maria Lourdes. Cushman Stan Cushman, 33, a lawyer practicing in Florida since 1969, is a candidate for Circuit Court. A graduate of Florida Southern College, Cushman is a member of American Trial Lawyers Association and American Judacature Society. He has lectured throughout Dade County high schools on the First Amendment as part of a program of the Young Lawyers section for the Florida Bar Association. Cushman resides with his wife Cindy in South Dade. They have a son, Adam, two. Jorgenson James R. Jorgenson, 39, an attorney lately employed by the Dade County Public Safety Department, is seeking election for Circuit Court Judge. Jorgenson resigned from his position as Chief of the Court Services Division. He formerly was a legal advisor to PSD and served as PSD police officer from 1960 to 1964. He is author of several articles and an adjunct professor of criminal justice at Florida International University. A graduate of Miami Edison High School, he received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Florida State University. McGrotty Patrick McGrotty, 50, a Coral Gables attorney, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge. Educated at Dartmouth College, Brown University and the University of Miami Law School, McGrotty has been practicing law in Dade County since 1957. McGrotty served with the U.S. Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He is a member of the Coral Gables American Legion and the Lions Club of Coral Gables. He is former Jaycee, Elk and Moose and is currently active in Knights of Columbus. Rubin G. Milton Rubin, 63, a practicing attorney in North Miami Beach, is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge. A graduate of Northeastern University and the University of Miami Law School, he is a member of the Florida Bar Real Probate and Trust Law Section. In addition, he is active with the American Bar Association Family Law, Public Contract and Real Property sections. He is former chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of North Miami Beach and was elected to three terms as Vice-Mayor and city councilman in that city. He and his wife, Gertrude have two sons David and Richard.
